Drawing Day 2
Moving on from straight lines, today I tried to make ellipses and circles in perspective. Trying to mimic the curves of a glass was harder than I thought. Some things I learned:
- Cups can be bounded by a square on top, skewed to a vanishing point
- The bottom of a cup is ever so slightly narrower than the top when looking down at it.
- Almost none of the curves of a cup line up with each other, which gives thickness to walls and base of the cup.
- Making an ellipse that isn't too flat or too pointy is really hard!
I also tried to draw a soda can, a jet engine, and a barrel, which have a bulging look to them. Who would have thought a cup was hiding such intricacy in plain sight?
